Good Classic Toyota Collection Near My Hometown

The "Chustro Lovers" of Bulgaria

Remember almost a year ago that I told you I was going to Bulgaria for couple of Month? Well I'm back and very impress of this beautiful country! I took some time off to finish lots of project in my new work, but finally I got some time to talk about the Chustros in Bulgaria.

Let me start with the impressive amount of sports cars I saw in Sofia. But like in every other place in the world now you got people that can afford that kind of cars. I'm always more interested in the "common car" and the story behind. So I went out in search of the cars that in one moment were the vehicles of the people.

During my stay I was encountering lot of cars that I never head of them in my entire life. Starting with the Chinese brands. In Bulgaria in order to China to start selling their cars they started building it there.

Made in China, but Assembled in Bulgaria

Walking to the city you can still see some car from the communist era. There is even a Communist Car Era Museum which is really cool, it has more than 100 cars of that era in neat conditions. Varna Retro Museum. Along the city center you can see these car in the natural habitat. In the city I was able to talk to some of their owners or people. I noticed that when I ask them that I would like to drive a Lada Neva, which by the way is the one that is in the picture. They was me "Are you crazy?" most of the people said the car is a complete crap, but most of the cars in the 60's and 70 where crap, specially if it was the "People's Car". My first car was a 1993 Ford Mustang LX... To be precise was 2.3L automatic... Oh yeah! you can feel the 105hp of a Pinto engine! :) But my father always said to me that this was a better car that the one he had when he was my age and to tell you the truth will happen the same if in some moment of my life I decided to have a child. I remember that after that car I got myself a proper Ford Mustang, you know! V8! GT and Standard, but then again by that time 200hp was like wow! Now I own a Ford Fiesta ST, it's 1.6 and it has the same horsepower that my old Mustang GT... It's good that we have progress in this world.

Sadly all my colleagues had new cars and I never had the chance to drive a Lada. Maybe next time and remember if you have a chance of going to Europe, I recommend to visit Bulgaria, it's nice, it's beautiful, not expensive and it has good food! :)
